Games like BitLife: 6 text life simulators on Android compared

Comet Barn · · 5 min read · Heirlines: Life Simulator

The closest games to BitLife on Android are AltLife by QmzApps, Bloodline, Verdant, Lifespan, AltLife Sim by Bountiful Games and our own Heirlines. Bloodline and AltLife keep BitLife's play-on-as-your-child loop; Heirlines is built around it and adds medieval lives; AltLife Sim lets you type your own choices.

BitLife made the text life simulator popular: you are born, a year passes with each tap, and the choices you make decide who you become. Plenty of games now play that way. Here are six on Google Play, from one with a million downloads to one made by a single developer, with BitLife in the table to compare against. We make one of them, Heirlines, and say so where it comes up.

Downloads and listing details were read from each game’s Google Play page on 7 November 2026. What we say about how BitLife plays comes from our own free play of it on 3 November 2026.

The ones closest to BitLife

AltLife by QmzApps is the nearest to BitLife in feel: one whole life, a year at a time, and when you die you carry on as your child. Its listing puts its systems first: training as a boxer or MMA fighter and throwing the punches yourself, prison crews and escapes, and a video channel you grow. If you played BitLife for the wild lives, start here.

AltLife Sim by Bountiful Games has a similar name but a different idea. Where most text simulators give you a fixed set of buttons, it lets you type a choice of your own, and the story follows it. That suits players who always wanted an option BitLife didn’t offer.

For long family lines

Bloodline is small (5,000-plus downloads) but its listing promises a great deal: 96 countries that shape wages, school and laws, 96 careers with ladders, and a dynasty that outlives you, with a family House that has a rank and a history. It also has supernatural lives, such as vampires and werewolves.

Heirlines is ours. It is built around the family line rather than having it as a feature: when a life ends you pick the heir from the living family, children and grandchildren first, then nieces and nephews, then brothers and sisters. They inherit the house and its payments, a share of the savings after the era’s tax, and the family’s name. How the hand-over works is in our guide to heirs and inheritance.

What sets it apart from BitLife:

  • Medieval lives in England, France, Italy and Spain, as well as modern lives in four countries. Each place has events written for it. BitLife’s lives are all in the present day, and in our play its countries changed the setting more than the events.
  • More than 2,300 written events, each with its own choices.
  • No forced ads. No banners and no full-screen ads; an ad plays only when you tap a row that offers one. BitLife, played free, showed both.
  • No account, and it plays offline. Paid unlocks are one-time payments with no subscription or coins; what’s free and what the Heirloom adds lists them.

Where BitLife is ahead, and it is a long way ahead: things to do. BitLife has around 160 activities from its menu, a dozen actions with every person, small games and owned items with their own upkeep. Heirlines is a story game with fewer moves. If you play BitLife for the activities, Heirlines will feel thin; if you play it for the story of a life and a family, it is worth a try. Heirlines on Google Play, or the game’s page.

For money and careers

Lifespan, made by one developer, leans toward wealth: careers, businesses, a company portfolio, stocks and crypto, homes and cars. Verdant starts you in a random family, country and decade, with more than 20 careers and finances deep enough for a property portfolio. Its listing says your children grow up and have children of their own; it doesn’t say whether you can play as them.

Which to try

  • Wild lives, prison and fights: AltLife by QmzApps.
  • Choices that aren’t on the screen: AltLife Sim.
  • A dynasty, with supernatural lives: Bloodline.
  • A family line through the centuries, without forced ads: Heirlines.
  • Getting rich: Lifespan or Verdant.

All of them are free to download. Check a game’s own Play page for what it asks for and what it sells before you start a long family line in it.
