Who we are

Tap Higher Number is published by Comet Barn. Comet Barn is a brand of Hamperpick Ventures LLP.

This policy explains what information Tap Higher Number (“the game”) handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies only to the game; the Comet Barn website has its own privacy policy.

Information stored on your device

The game stores the following on your device:

  • Your progress, scores, coins, items and settings
  • A random install ID created on your device. It is not linked to your name, email or any account

Advertising

The game shows ads only when you choose to watch one (for example, to continue a run). There are no banner or pop-up ads. Ads are served by Google AdMob.

When an ad is requested, Google AdMob may collect and use the following to show ads, measure them and prevent fraud:

  • Your device’s advertising ID
  • Your IP address (used for approximate location)
  • Device and app information, such as model, operating system version and language
  • How you interact with the ads you choose to watch
  • Google AdMob’s privacy information: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Your choices

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game asks for your consent before any ads are requested, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy options. Everywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device’s Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads). Not watching ads never blocks play.

In-app purchases

You can buy coin packs, item bundles, cosmetic items, a Supporter pack and a seasonal Climb Pass. Every purchase is a one-time payment; there are no subscriptions. Payments are handled by Google Play; we never see your card or payment details.

To confirm purchases and restore them on a new device, the game uses RevenueCat, which receives:

  • A random app user ID created by RevenueCat (not your name or email)
  • Your purchase history and receipts from Google Play
  • Device and app information, such as operating system version, app version and country
  • Your IP address
  • RevenueCat’s privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

Usage statistics and crash reports

To understand how the game is played and to fix problems, the game uses Google Firebase (Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics). The statistics describe play, not you: the game does not send your name, email or the install ID stored on your device. Firebase receives:

  • An app instance ID created by Firebase (not your name or email)
  • How the app is used: sessions and game events such as runs finished, items bought with in-game coins, ads watched and purchase attempts
  • Device and app information, such as model, operating system version, app version, language and country
  • Your IP address (used for approximate location)
  • If the app crashes: a crash report with technical details (what the app was doing, device state and an installation ID created by Crashlytics)
  • Firebase privacy information: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Advertising use

Whether this information may be used for advertising (for example, to measure the ads you watch) follows the same consent choice as the ads. Until a choice is known, nothing is used for advertising.

Friend challenges

You can challenge a friend to beat your score. Only when you choose to send one, the game makes a message and a picture of your result containing a challenge code (which climb you played and your score) and the name you sign it with, and hands them to the app you pick, such as a messaging app. That app delivers them; we do not receive them.

The message includes a Google Play link. If your friend installs the game from it, Google Play passes the challenge code and name on to the game on their device, so the challenge is ready when they open it.

Online leaderboards and challenges

When your device is online, the game uses Comet Barn’s own game server for leaderboards and friend challenges. You don’t need an account: the first time, the server creates an anonymous player record with a random ID and a secret key, which the game keeps on your device. The server receives:

  • Your leaderboard name. It is shown to other players on the leaderboards, so don’t use your real name if you’d rather not. Names are checked automatically, and offensive ones are refused.
  • Your runs: the mode, the score and a record of your taps with their timing. The server replays the taps to check that the score is real before it ranks it.
  • The friend challenges you send, with the run behind them, so your friends can see that your score was checked.
  • Your IP address, with every request. It is used to keep the service running and to block abuse, and may appear in server logs for a short time.

What other players see

Your leaderboard name and scores, on the leaderboards and on the challenges you take part in. Nothing else about you is shown.

Google Play Games (optional)

You can sign in with Google Play Games, using the Play Games profile you already have; the game works the same without it. When you do, the game sends our server a one-time code that Google confirms, and the server links your Play Games player ID to your player record, so your scores follow you to a new phone. We don’t receive your email address or anything else from your Google account. Achievements you unlock are kept by Google Play Games under Google’s privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy), and you can manage your Play Games profile in the Play Games settings on your device.

How we use information

Information is used only to:

  • Run the game and keep your progress on your device
  • Show the ads you choose to watch, and keep advertising fair and fraud-free
  • Confirm and restore your purchases
  • Understand how the game is played, and find and fix crashes
  • Deliver the friend challenges you choose to send
  • Run the leaderboards and friend challenges, and check that scores are real
  • Answer you if you write to us

Sharing

We do not sell your information. Apart from the service providers named above and the leaderboard name and scores other players see, we share information only if the law requires it.

Keeping and deleting your data

Uninstalling the game, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes everything stored on your device.

Purchase records are kept by Google Play and RevenueCat as needed for receipts, refunds and the law.

Firebase keeps usage statistics for up to 14 months and crash reports for up to 90 days, then deletes them.

On our game server, the tap record of each run is deleted after 30 days; your leaderboard name and best scores stay on the leaderboards until you ask us to delete them. Uninstalling the game does not remove them: email us your leaderboard name and roughly when you last played, and we will delete your player record, scores, challenges and the link to your Play Games player ID.

To ask about or delete any information connected to you, email support@cometbarn.com.

Children

The game is meant for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, email support@cometbarn.com and we will delete it.

Security

Information sent by the game to the services above travels over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we choose providers that protect data with industry-standard measures.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the game changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will also be noted in the game’s store listing.
